
Jørgen Lauritzen
Jørgen Lauritzen is a painter of primarily industrial and urban landscapes. His influences include the American Ashcan and Regionalist Schools of painting. His themes relate to metaphysically inspired depictions of places in various states of deconstruction, abandonment
Jørgen is a graduate of the Sheridan College Illustration Program and the Ontario College of Art and Design Drawing and Painting Department. After living in Sweden with the Brucebo Fine Art Residency Scholarship he returned to Canada to work as a digital matte painter and compositor in film and other media while continuing to paint traditionally. He has also teaches painting and drawing in departments of Sheridan College’s Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design.
Jørgen’s paintings can be found in private and public collections including The Toronto Maritime Museum Collection and the Gotlands Konstmuseum (Sweden).
